Holistic psychotherapy for mental wellness and personal growth.
Holistic psychotherapy for mental wellness and personal growth.
In a visit with Amy, expect her to employ a variety of therapeutic techniques depending on what best suits your needs and personal situation. Amy feels that the most important component to counselling is the relationship between the client and their therapist. Amy is open-minded, non-judgemental and genuinely cares about the well-being of her clients.
Amy uses a variety of modalities including Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive behavioural Therapy, Motivational interviewing, Transpersonal Therapy and Mindfulness.
Amy is a Registered Social Worker with 17 years experience providing counselling to individuals and families. Specializing in working with adults and seniors to assist with difficult life transitions, she has worked in a broad range of settings across various provinces and cities. For example, several non-for-profit organizations and coalitions helping victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse, and human trafficking.
Amy worked as a Social Worker at one of Canada’s leading academic hospitals, as well as hospital programs specializing in rehabilitation and complex care. In addition, she has been involved in community outreach providing Social Work services to clients in their homes.
She has a range of experience working with clients with such issues as depression, PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, stress management, abuse, addictions and human trafficking. She also has an expertise in helping individuals and families living with physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental health disorders, and those needing or receiving home care services, retirement home and long-term care home assistance.
Amy specializes in sports psychology, more specifically sports and athletic performance enhancement. Being a competitive athlete and coach herself in the past combined with her years of psychotherapy experience, Amy is intensely aware of the impact mental health can have on the outcome of practices and performances. Sports performance enhancement counselling works to identify and address athletes concerns affecting their skills such as stress management, fears, lack of motivation, confidence, mindset, and mental toughness just to name a few. It can offer a tool set for increased success and enjoyment in the sport for optimal performance.

A clinical supervisor engages with a supervisee to promote the professional growth of the supervisee, enhance the supervisee’s safe and effective use of self in the therapeutic relationship, discuss the direction of therapy and safeguard the well-being of the client.
