About Stephens counselling

Amy Stephens MSW, RSW

Amy is a Registered Social Worker and a prominent counsellor in Kingston with over 19 years of experience providing evidence-based counselling to individuals, couples, groups, and families. Specializing in assisting adults and seniors with difficult life transitions, she has worked in a broad range of settings across various provinces and cities. Amy has collaborated with several non-profit organizations and coalitions to help victims of sexual assault, domestic abuse, and human trafficking.

Having worked as a Social Worker at one of Canada’s leading academic hospitals, she has also been involved in programs specializing in rehabilitation, palliative, and complex care. In addition, Amy has participated in community outreach, providing social work services to clients in their homes who are dealing with a range of concerns from hoarding to substance use.

Her extensive experience includes working with clients facing issues such as depression, PTSD, anxiety, grief and loss, stress, abuse, relational issues, and narcissistic abuse. Furthermore, she has expertise in assisting individuals and families living with acute and chronic disabilities, medical conditions, mental health disorders, and those requiring home care services, retirement home, and long-term care home assistance.

Amy also specializes in sports psychology, particularly in sports and athletic performance enhancement. As a former competitive athlete and coach, combined with her years of psychotherapy experience, she understands the significant impact mental health can have on practice and performance outcomes. Her sports performance enhancement counselling is designed to identify and address athletes' concerns affecting their skills, such as stress management, fears, lack of motivation, confidence, mindset, and mental toughness. This approach offers a toolkit for increased success and enjoyment in sports, ensuring optimal performance.

Angela Colebourne, RP (Q)

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and  a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), I offer a compassionate, inclusive, and non-judgmental space where you can feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported.

I hold a master’s degree in counselling and psychotherapy and bring over 19 years of teaching experience, including a strong background in special education. This informs my work with neurodivergent individuals and those navigating complex emotional experiences, using an affirming, strengths-based approach that honours your unique way of experiencing the world.

My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed practices. Together, we build practical coping skills while also exploring the deeper patterns, core beliefs, and internal “parts” that shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, supporting meaningful, lasting change.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, stress, self-esteem challenges, and addiction. Therapy is collaborative, paced to feel safe and manageable, and focused on helping you build resilience, deepen self-awareness, and reconnect with your authentic self.

You can inherit more than a name and a nose — sometimes you inherit the anxiety too: the bracing, the over-functioning, the sense that rest has to be earned. I'm Asmi, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and a lot of my work is helping people set down what was never theirs to carry. I see teens, youth, and women, often people of colour navigating life transitions, depression, shaky self-worth, and the kind of trauma that gets passed down quietly across generations. I'm direct but warm — I won't just nod along, and I think the right metaphor can do what a textbook can't. And because feelings don't always translate, I work in English, Hindi, Gujarati and Urdu, and understand Punjabi and Telugu. MACP, Yorkville University. Seeing clients virtually across Ontario. VIRTUAL appointments only.

You have value...because you exist. Have you tried to hold it all together, read all the books, listened to the podcasts, and followed the advice that’s supposed to help, yet something still doesn’t quite fit your own life? If that sounds familiar, it may be time to have a space where your own experience can be explored and understood. For over ten years, I have worked alongside youth, families, and adults navigating trauma, grief, and complex life experiences and justice involved youth. I support people navigating PTSD, trauma, ADHD, anxiety, depression, substance use, and challenges in relationships with partners or children. Sessions are available VIRTUALLY or in person at my office in Mississauga.

Sometimes clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed and stuck, believing they should already have everything figured out. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a trusted counsellor in Kingston, I approach each client with compassion, respect, and openness, providing a safe and collaborative environment for growth.

My practice is strength-based and trauma-informed, integrating elements of DBT, CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness-based approaches. I support clients with anger management, trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, communication difficulties, emotional regulation, family conflict, relationship challenges, and stress management.

I work with young and experienced adults, honouring their unique beliefs and values. I hold a certification in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which helps clients replace distressing images linked to trauma with positive, empowering ones.

I have also had the privilege of working with individuals in Addiction and Mental Health Centers, youth in conflict with the law, as well as serving individuals with substance use issues at Addiction Treatment Centres.

Services are offered virtually. I aim to help clients heal from childhood trauma and move beyond patterns that no longer serve them. VIRTUAL APPOINTMENTS only.
